Notes > This was originally two songs. > Rob: “The song mashes together elements that I love about Veronica Falls, the Sparks and the ELO Time album. I found Veronica Falls on YouTube and fell in love with their sense of melody.” > Rob: “I have always loved the hyper-melodic, coked-up L.A. new wave music that might have been in Valley Girl. This music only seemed to exist in early 80s films, because it was never on mainstream radio. John Hughes carried on this tradition of using mostly indie and obscure pop, which created a musical universe that only existed in his films. I think that this got a lot of 80s kids interested in alternative rock.” > Rob: “I borrowed the word ‘ghouls’ from Laura.” >
